Beginners

Archery is a great sport for those interested in competing against others, those who want to just improve on their own shooting ability, or even just those who wish to participate in a social and relaxing sport.

North Downs Archery Club runs courses for new archers at different times of the year – generally in late spring and early autumn. See the Beginners’ Courses page for more information on these courses.

We welcome those who are looking to take up archery as a hobby, as a sport, or who just want to give it a try!

All your equipment is provided for the duration of the course, and you can even continue to use our equipment for a time after the course if you decide to join the club. The courses are run by club members who are Archery GB qualified instructors.

The course will introduce the different sorts of archery equipment, instruct on how to safely use it, as well as explain the etiquette and range safety rules.

The club itself has members who have a varied level of experience, and all are happy to help and advise, when invited, on how you can continue in the sport – be it with purchasing of equipment, entering competitions and tournaments, or improving your skills.
